The bell has been ringing for the last round and the sprint finish has begun. These days, the Danish hosts for the prestigious UCI Track World Championships 2010 are applying the finishing touches.
In just 50 days, the world’ absolutely best track riders are entering the Danish venue, Ballerup Super Arena, in which the event is being staged.
24 – 28 March 2010 the UCI Track World Championships 2010 are back in Denmark and Ballerup Super Aren. Denmark has a strong tradition in terms of hosting track events. As many as 9 times before from 1896 to 1956, Denmark has successfully hosted the UCI Track World Championships, most recently in 2002.
Lars Lundov, Chief Executive of Sport Event Denmark is proud to say: ”We Danes are grown up with the bike as a daily means of transport. Our postmen go by bike when they deliver the post and in Denmark we have numerous top-class cycle lanes. Now also foreign nations have discovered that Denmark is a stronghold for cyclists. Thus, Copenhagen has been nominated “UCI Bike City” by the International Cycling Union, and so far Copenhagen is the first and only Bike City ever”.
Event Manager, Jesper Worre from the Danish Organising Committee and responsible for the last 2 years Track World Cups in Ballerup adds: ”The ticket sale has gotten off to a good start and, especially, the British fans have shown great interest. In fact, we have had to extend the area earmarked for the British spectators. We are proud to announce that we expect to sell all tickets available for most of the competition days and we promise the audience an intense atmosphere as well as great excitement in the Ballerup Super Arena.”
Denmark has a long-standing tradition within the track cycling sport. Most recently, Denmark had two gold medals and one silver medal at the UCI Track World Championships 2009 in Pruszkòw in Poland.
